# L’acidité gastrique est-elle une allergie?

L’acidité gastrique n’est pas une allergie.   
Cependant, certains symptômes souvent associés aux allergies ou à l’asthme — comme les yeux irrités et larmoyants ou une toux persistante — peuvent parfois porter à confusion.

Des recherches récentes suggèrent que, dans certains cas, ces symptômes pourraient plutôt être liés à une forme de reflux appelée reflux silencieux (reflux laryngopharyngé). Contrairement au reflux gastrique classique, il ne provoque pas forcément de symptômes digestifs comme les brûlures d’estomac, les renvois ou les nausées.

Il peut plutôt se manifester par une voix enrouée, une toux chronique, une respiration bruyante ou des difficultés à s’alimenter. Si des symptômes similaires à une allergie persistent malgré les antihistaminiques ou les médicaments contre le rhume, il peut être pertinent d’envisager le reflux silencieux.
