# I’ve been giving my 3-year-old 1 Echinaforce Junior daily for the past 3 days, and now they have diarrhea. Could this be a side effect?

It’s unlikely that the diarrhea is linked to [Echinaforce Junior](https://shop.avogel.ca/products/a-vogel-echinaforce-junior).

Even at higher doses, digestive upset like diarrhea is not commonly reported—nausea or vomiting would be more likely.

The main known side effects of echinacea are related to allergies, particularly in individuals sensitive to plants from the Asteraceae family (such as daisies or sunflowers). In these rare cases, symptoms would more typically include allergic reactions rather than digestive issues.

This may therefore be due to another cause, such as a mild infection or dietary factor. If symptoms persist or worsen, it would be a good idea to consult your child’s pediatrician.
