Why do your products contain alcohol?

The alcohol (ethanol) used in the manufacture of A.Vogel products is food-grade and pharmaceutical quality. It is obtained through the natural fermentation of certain plants.

Alcohol plays an important role in our formulations:

• It helps extract specific plant compounds that cannot be effectively obtained through water-based methods, ensuring optimal product efficacy.

• It also acts as a natural preservative for our mother tinctures (plant-based liquid extracts).

Mother tinctures typically contain between 50% and 60% alcohol. However, the quantity consumed per dose is very small—usually 15 to 30 drops diluted in a little water. This minimal amount is quickly processed by the body.

For perspective, 20 drops of a mother tincture contain approximately the same amount of naturally occurring alcohol as a banana or a glass of fruit juice.
